Cape Canaveral Air Force Station, Fla., (Nov. 21, 2013) – Subsequent to the delivery of four high performance RD-180 rocket engines to United Launch Alliance (ULA) from RD AMROSS in October 2013, Dr. Vitaly Lopota, president and designer general of RSC Energia, managing partner of NPO Energomash, visited the ULA launch facility at Cape Canaveral Air Force Station, Fla.         

 “The RD-180 has unparalleled performance and reliability as the Atlas V main engine,” said Michael Gass, ULA president and CEO. “It is the workhorse of the Atlas V launch vehicle program and has demonstrated a perfect record since its initial flight in May 2000.”

ULA currently has contracts with RD AMROSS for delivery through the 98th RD-180 engine.

Lopota reiterated that RD AMROSS is fully committed to uninterrupted delivery of RD-180 engines in fulfillment of its contract with ULA.

“Energia and RD AMROSS are very pleased with the twenty-year international partnership with ULA and the Atlas program,” said Lopota. “This Atlas/RD-180 company-to-company relationship has been good for all parties involved and we intend to continue through the duration of our contract.

RD AMROSS, a limited liability company, is a U.S. joint venture between Pratt & Whitney of West Palm Beach, Fla., and NPO Energomash of Khimki, Russia.

ULA program management, engineering, test, and mission support functions are headquartered in Denver, Colo. Manufacturing, assembly and integration operations are located at Decatur, Ala., and Harlingen, Texas. Launch operations are located at Cape Canaveral AFS, Fla., and Vandenberg AFB, Calif.
