United Launch Alliance Appoints Phil Marshall Director of Alabama Government, Community Relations and Business Development

Decatur, Ala., (Jan. 10, 2012) – United Launch Alliance (ULA) announced today that Phil Marshall has been appointed Director of Alabama Government, Community Relations and Business Development.

"We are pleased to have Phil serve in this new role for our company" said George Sowers, ULA’s vice president of Business Development. "Phil’s background and extensive knowledge of the industry in the state of Alabama will be key to strengthening our presence and growing new business opportunities."

In this role, Marshall will be the liaison to key Alabama officials including the Governor, Congressional and Senate members, as well as represent ULA’s interest in state and local economic development and community organizations.

For the last five years, Marshall has served as the vice president of Production Operations, overseeing the successful consolidation of ULA’s production operations to Decatur, Ala. Prior to joining ULA, he served as site lead and general manager of Boeing’s Delta Operations in Decatur.

Marshall has been a strong advocate for his community, having served on the Board of Directors of the Calhoun Community College Foundation, the Decatur City Schools Foundation Board and as a member of the Board of Trustees for Parkway Medical Center in Decatur. He holds a Bachelor of Science degree in mechanical engineering from Colorado State University.

ULA program management, engineering, test and mission support functions are headquartered in Denver, Colo. Manufacturing, assembly and integration operations are located at Decatur, Ala., and Harlingen, Texas. Launch operations are located at Cape Canaveral AFS, Fla., and Vandenberg AFB, Calif.
